When school is out, many children face food insecurity and lose access to consistent learning support. Our nonprofit partners are creating meaningful ways to step in with generosity, encouragement, and practical care.
Whether you can give your time, donate resources, or show up and build relationships, there’s a place for you this summer.
Explore three ways to get involved.
1. Support Young Readers with LIT City
Tutor. Encourage. Build Confidence.
Help children grow in literacy this summer through simple, relationship-centered tutoring with LIT City.
You don’t need to be a teacher or reading expert, just someone willing to spend time reading, practicing words, and encouraging students.
What to expect:
* About one hour per week
* Small groups of students
* Training and resources provided
* Flexible weekday opportunities
2. Help Feed Families This Summer
Grove Park Summer Feeding Program
Families across Atlanta’s Westside face increased food insecurity during summer break. Partner with PAWKids and Granma’s House to help provide meals, hospitality, and care to children and families.
There are multiple ways to serve:
* Donate needed food and supplies
* Help with meal distribution
* Support welcoming, community-centered spaces
3. Join the rEcess Park Play Date
Play, Connect, and Build Community
Spend an afternoon building friendships with families experiencing disability through a special summer gathering hosted by rEcess. This relaxed park play date is designed to create connection, joy, and belonging—no training required.
